Beijing pollution peaked last midnight / by Richard

Air pollution kills more people worldwide than malaria and HIV, yearly!

The highest levels of pollution in Beijing was last midnight, 720 PM2.5 AQI acording the US embassy in Beijing and 685 PM2.5 AQI according to local authorities, when seeing a 188 PM2.5 AQI considering being unhealthy, on scale of 0 to 500 AQI. Yes, a new record!!!

Yesterday, the citizens of Beijing garbed whatever transportation they found to reach home, and to look them-self in, from the black rain and the "Hazardous" pollution.

Recent research shows that northern Chinese lose 5 or more years of their lives thanks to air pollution. Globally, air pollution kills up to 2.4 million people a year around the world, according to new research comparing simulated air particle concentrations from 1850 and 2000.

Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed on March 6 that he will “punish, with an iron hand, any violators who destroy ecology or environment, with no exceptions.” The rhetoric is certainly impressive, and is very likely genuine, but the Chinese government first needs to tackle its own entrenched institutional weakness.

In 2008, everyone knew Beijing was polluted, but we didn't know how much. That year, the US Embassy in Beijing installed a rooftop air-quality monitor

For the first time in China, publicly available data focused on one of the most dangerous types of air pollutants, PM2.5—airborne fine particles less than 2.5 microns.

Meanwhile was New Delhi dubbed the worst city for air pollution on Earth, yesterday.

According to air quality levels measured in 2014 by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1,600 different cities around the globe, the Indian capital city of New Delhi was found to be the worst. The WHO indicates the air pollution is 10 times higher than acceptable standards.
