Meanwhile, there is a Cannabis Cup… / by Richard

This weekend the marijuana industry has its annual meeting in Los Angeles. Yes, in the city of angels there is the “The Los Angeles Cannabis Cup”. Just one week after the actor Philip Seymour died of an overdose of heroin, in his apartment.

The LA event will gather more than 10’000 people Saturday and Sunday, this is twice any previous event, since USA legalized marijuana in two states; Colorado and Washington, and Alaska is expected to be the next state approving pot. The majority of Americans supports the legalization; even president Obama said that pot is not worth than alcohol.

I don’t know the answer if or not to legalize marijuana? Both parties’ has valid arguments. What bothers me; is that Americans pays attention, now when Philip Seymour is died, and probably for a short duration until next Jim Morrison or Philip Seymour!

Personally I helped a friend out from his addiction last year, but it took a year and coasted a substantial amount of dollars. But this person is sober today. Also I have several friends who brought themselves out from all kinds of addictions. Let’s never forget that addiction is lifelong illness.

The Los Angeles Cannabis Cup will distribute its awards to the best marijuana related products, like bong, pipes or accessories… you could see this as the Grammys of the marijuana industry.

Meanwhile the LA police start to equip themselves with a “heroin antidote” called Naloxone. This “first responder” works as an antidote when someone accidentally made an overdose but must be used immediately!

A private funeral is set for Philip Seymour today. RIP
