swatting

Swatting by Richard

Today you have “script kiddie” or “skiddie” that send SWAT teams to your house. Google Trends shows a huge spike in mentions of the word "swatting" beginning in 2013.

Some hackers and gamers have been "Swatting" or anonymously reporting fake hostage situations, shootings, and other violent crimes, so elite police units like SWAT teams will bust down the doors of unsuspecting people's homes.

Imagine when a elite police unit, who are trained to respond to extremely hostile situations by killing, show up at your door pointing automatic weapons at you, things can go wrong very easily, hopefully we haven’t seen any victims of such stupid prank yet.

Since 9/11 billions of dollars are invested in the militarization of the local police forces. Too bad that some of this money does not go to education and improvement of the community, so you don’t have “script kiddies” making such a scams.

Politicians have created this type of paramilitary police forces in their hometowns, for their protection. Now it’s their own children who send this very same police force back into the citizen’s living rooms!

Maybe it's time to try to solve problems without violence and less guns.

The FBI estimates there are around 400 swatting attacks a year. So a Californian governor have signed bill to crack down on celebrity 'swatting'. Under the new law callers or their parents will be required to reimburse police agencies for the full cost of each emergency call, which can run as high as $10 000.

This could result in California residents not calling 911, being concerned of the costs, if its not a real emergency…
