For Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium on February 6, 2011, prices for the prime seats in the “100 section” were $9,000. They sold out almost three months before the game.

The amount of money in pro sports is staggering. Top players in every sport are millionaires, and team owners are often billionaires. Middle- and working-class people make up most of the fan base, they can’t afford it or need to make substantial sacrifices to see their sport stars.

And sometime the sport stars screw up; like Lance Armstrong who was found guilty of operating “the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program”.

So Lance is likely going to have to pay back $12.5 million in bonuses and prize money. Plus he will lose a minimum of $75 million in short term endorsement dollars. But the real blow is that his reputation as a champion has been erased and now it’s zero income ever…

I use to be a F1 fan but it’s such a dirty sport; money-wise so I switched to Underwater Upside-Down Hockey.
