This week a group of 28 private investors from 10 countries launched the Breakthrough Energy Coalition.
When you see the names associated with this initiative it's amazing, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, and pretty much every other super rich tech leader you can imagine have announced that they’ll help early-stage energy companies to get innovation out of the lab and into the marketplace. And it's damn smart because it will certainly be the next big cash cow...
They’ll focus the investments on the countries that are part of Mission Innovation a consortium of 20 countries, including the US, that have committed to doubling their investment in clean energy over the next five years.
The goal is a “future that produces near zero carbon emissions and provides everyone with affordable, reliable energy”.
Among recent promising ideas is SunSaluter, which won the grand prize in this year’s MIT Climate CoLab contest.
Bill Gates alone announced he would be investing $1-Billion in clean energy technology.
