Upstate New York, two hours (160 kilometers) by car from the Grand Central Terminal on Manhattan you find this stunning and strange house in the Catskill Mountains. The house stands at the edge of the Ashokan reservoir, with amazing views extending south across and beyond the reservoir to the horizon.
From the drive-thru garage you enter into the vestibule with its fireplace, to continue to the steel-framed living room with views across surrounding forest and the distant mountains. The dining area and kitchen has a more elevated view across the reservoir to the mountains extending to the East and West.
The house is minimalist and simple in one sense, fantastic and ugly in the same time. I love architecture!
A anecdote is that Jimi Hendrix rented a house on this hill during the summer of 1969, using it as a place to jam with old friends and rehearse for the Woodstock Festival.
