Earth from 1.5 billion kilometers away / by Richard

Last July, my son and I had the pleasure to observe the stars from the desert on the Arabian Peninsula. An amazing experience seeing all the stars in the crystal clear night. We looked also through a big telescope, especially at Saturn, the second largest planet in the Solar System.

But from the opposite direction... NASA's Cassini spacecraft has captured some rare images of Earth and its moon as seen from Saturn, about 1.5 billion kilometers away. This image was acquired by Cassini on July 19, 2013.
