In 10 days I will be in Tankwa, in the middle of nowhere in the Karoo Desert.

Yes, AfrikaBurn is annual event of the creative expression from a kaleidoscope of humanoids who gather in the Tankwa Karoo to create a temporary city with art, theme camps, costume, music and performance!

AfrikaBurn is the official African outpost of the world-famous Burning Man, the art and music event based on radical self expression and self-reliance held annually in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

Here I will get life-affirming messages from lemurs on the dance floor, after admiring some of the most beautiful the sunsets in South Africa.

As a photographer navigating the AI era, we are confronted with numerous fresh opportunities and, at the same time, potential challenges. The question looms: can we not only survive but also harness the full potential of these new possibilities, especially with the advent of mega digital cameras in this emerging photographic age?

Certainly, AI tools have enabled enthusiastic individuals to craft a diverse array of captivating artificial images. However, the question arises: can these creators truly be called photographers? In my view, the distinction lies in the ownership of photographs and the associated intellectual property rights. This consideration has made me considerably more discerning in terms of what and how I choose to publish my images.
