I went to Africa to meet a friend and to take a picture. I expected a clean, neat little house with an old man, but I found the same crazy dude I left 30 years ago in Switzerland. Still the same generous and funny guy, Gerard has moved on to the next level and runs an insane asylum in Malawi today (officially, it is a lodge for backpackers).

As a photographer navigating the AI era, we are confronted with numerous fresh opportunities and, at the same time, potential challenges. The question looms: can we not only survive but also harness the full potential of these new possibilities, especially with the advent of mega digital cameras in this emerging photographic age?

Certainly, AI tools have enabled enthusiastic individuals to craft a diverse array of captivating artificial images. However, the question arises: can these creators truly be called photographers? In my view, the distinction lies in the ownership of photographs and the associated intellectual property rights. This consideration has made me considerably more discerning in terms of what and how I choose to publish my images.
