West coast v. east coast isn't just a rivalry for '90s-era rappers. Maybe New York has become the new hub of the IT world.
Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York have bet heavily on innovation and investment in the technology infrastructure. So much so more and more start-ups are asking if California is still the place to start their business.
Bloomberg L.P. announced this summer the creation of a $75 million venture capital fund called Bloomberg Beta.
NYC investors could be more amenable to B2C start-up strategies of gaining traction first and worrying about revenues later and the density and diversity of people make for great user testing on any street corner.
Meanwhile on the west coast, more than 60 000 Europeans are working in the San Francisco Bay. It’s the Californian dream. Shattered among giants like Apple, Google, Facebook or Salesforce and in major software such as SAP and Oracle, 15 000 Europeans are all over the Valley working in IT.
And SF beats NYC hands down in open Wi-Fi availability!
Which coast do you prefer :)
